Patcham High School Swimming Pool
Arrive at Patcham High School
Use the Ladies Mile Road entrance only. Postcode for sat-nav: BN1 8PB. The school is clearly signed from the main road.
Park in the school car park
Drive through to the car park beyond the blue gates. Use marked bays only — please do not park in the community centre or library spaces (permit holders only). 5mph in the car park.
Find the gate to the school field
In the lower car park, look for the gate that leads onto the school field. Go through and follow the path along the field.
Through the second set of gates
Continue along the field path and go through the second set of gates on your left.
Up the steps or ramp to the pool
Head up the steps or use the ramp, enter through the white double doors, and the pool entrance is immediately on your right.

20m × 7m
A full-length 20 metre pool, 7 metres wide, with clearly marked lanes for structured teaching.
Depth
0.9m to 1.7m
Shallow end is a uniform 0.9m (3ft). The pool slopes to a maximum depth of 1.7m (5ft 6in) at the deep end.
Temperature
29–31°C
Water temperature is maintained between 29°C and 31°C. Air temperature is kept within 1°C of the water temperature.

Fully accessible
Disabled access available. Steps at each corner with a metal handrail. Floodlit with emergency lighting. Separate male and female changing rooms.

Facilities
Separate male and female changing rooms, each with showers, a toilet and a hand basin.
A separate accessible toilet is also available poolside.
Girls' changing room is on the left, boys' on the right as you enter the pool building.

Who uses which room
Children aged 8 and above must use the changing room that corresponds with their gender.
Adults accompanying children under 8 should use the changing room that corresponds with their own gender.
Adult males are not permitted in the female changing areas.
Adult females are not permitted in the male changing areas.
❊ Pool Rules
Rules for poolside and changing rooms
🚶 No running
Always walk on poolside, in the changing rooms and within the school building.
🍎 No food on poolside
Food is not permitted on poolside or in the changing rooms. Please use the designated bins for litter.
💇 Tie back long hair
Pool users with long hair must have it tied back. Hair bands are available on poolside if needed.
📷 No photography on poolside
Filming and photography is not permitted on poolside or in the changing rooms. Ask a teacher to arrange a photo at the end of the lesson.
💍 Remove jewellery
All jewellery must be removed before the lesson begins.
🪑 Spectators must stay seated
Children waiting or spectating must remain seated with their responsible adult and not disrupt lessons.
👟 No outdoor shoes
Outdoor shoes are not permitted in the changing rooms or on poolside. Shoe covers are provided if needed.
🚬 No smoking
Smoking is strictly prohibited within the school grounds. No pets are permitted inside the building.
